I've been reading other people's blogs and online journals for several years now and always wanted to get started on one of my own. Since "retiring" from a full-time job last year, I have been able to find a whole new world of wonderful blogs written by women of all ages from many different walks of life. There does seem to be a common thread running through the blogs that I most enjoy- all of the authors are trying to make a peaceful home and want to share their skills with others. These women are "home makers". Some are full-time stay at home moms, some work from home, and some have full-time jobs. Many, many share their faith. I've been so impressed by their care and creativity! So...I'm diving in- head first into a brand new creative experience. My intentions are to share my faith, adventures in cooking, and cool artsy crafty things that I've done or seen. Hence the name of this first blog entry: Faith, Recipes & Art. Those three words don't really make for a great title for a blog so I converted them to be "Prayers, Pickles & Paintbrushes". Sounds better right? Yes.
So, who am I, and what do I have to share with the "blogeshere"? I am the wife of my high school sweetheart, and the mother of three grown children. Two have completed their educations and are financially independent; the youngest is fast on her way! I also have a beautiful daughter-in-law (who shares her blogging interest with me!). I am a former elementary school
teacher, high school art teacher, 12th grade Bible teacher and assistant administrator of a small preK-12th grade Christian school. I like to read, especially biographies, enjoy old movies and musicals, love all kinds of animals- have a yorkie named Buddy and cat named Graham. Being a wife and mom brings great joy to my life, and being a follower of and believer in Christ has filled my life with peace and hopefulness. My circle of friends is also an amazing blessing. I purpose to share my life and experiences on this blog with the hope of encouraging other women to live with faith, fun, forgiveness and laughter!
So, here we go...
